A peaceful cat sits quietly amongst the ferns. Shades of blue and gold compliment the black and white image of the kitty.

"Serenity" is a mixed media collage made up of a linocut cat print, and a botanical mono print, embellished with metallic gold paint. The image is also collaged onto a light blue paper, creating a border around the botanical. Another favorite piece of mine. This is a unique, one-of-a-kind artwork.

The original inspiration for my recent collage work has come from the pile of imperfect linocut prints that I have accumulated over the course of the last 4 years. Parts of them were good, other parts, unacceptable. I knew I wanted to use the good parts somehow, someday. That time is now.

The botanical is a mono print. A thin layer of acrylic paint is rolled out on a plate of gelatin, and ferns were placed on top of the wet paint. Paper placed over the top was lightly pressed, and the paper peeled back, revealing the botanical image.

*All materials used for this collage are acid free and archival.

*Size: Art image is 6"x10," approximately, mounted on a 9"x12" sheet of Stonehenge printing paper with one deckle edge on the bottom.

*Framing Suggestion: 9"x12" is a standard size, and you would be able to find a ready made frame to fit this artwork. What would be better for the longevity of the artwork would be having an acid free mat cut for the collage. Acid free mat board will keep the paper from yellowing with age. The mat will keep the collage away from the glass, just in case moisture gets inside the frame. And always, the best way to protect any original art piece is to be sure to not hang it in direct sunlight or close to a bright lamp which will age and fade the artwork.
